01 / METHOD

Listen first

The real problem often sits behind the one described. We dig until it is on the table, and only then do I write the first line of code.

Build together

I work with your people, not around them: decisions explained, trade-offs in the open, knowledge transferred as we go, not at the end.

Hand it over

You fully own the deliverable. Success is that you don't need me afterwards: your team runs, extends, and changes the system on its own.

Stay available

After handover I stay one email away for fixes and further iterations. If you call again, it is because the last project earned it.

Empowerment, never dependency.

02 / CAPABILITIES

Custom software

Product development from idea to production: scoping, architecture, iterative delivery, and the unglamorous parts (testing, deployment, maintenance) that make software dependable.

Full-stack platform work

Web applications end to end: interfaces people actually use, back ends that stay reliable as usage grows, and the delivery pipeline between them.

Data and automation

Replacing manual, error-prone workflows: integrations between the systems you already use, data pipelines, and reports people can trust.

03 / RECORDS / CLIENT NAMES WITHHELD, NUMBERS REAL

REC 01 / MANUFACTURING / RAILS · POSTGRESQL · REDIS

From Word documents to an offer-to-order pipeline

CLIENT
An SMB reselling enterprise engineering software (Siemens Teamcenter, NX, and Solid Edge).
PROBLEM
Every salesperson assembled offers by hand in Word and emailed them out, with no standard process, no pricing consistency, and no trail.
BUILT
A web application pulling products, pricing, clients, and contacts live from the company's CMS. Sales composed offers from real data instead of retyping it, tuned pricing within discount parameters, versioned and sent offers, and tracked their status. Accepted offers became orders in the ERP automatically.
OUTCOME
The entire sales team moved onto the system, offers followed a single process end to end, and manual-input errors disappeared. I kept evolving it for a year as an independent consultant, then handed it over entirely. The client still runs it without me, which is the point.

REC 02 / PUBLISHING / AIRTABLE · WOOCOMMERCE · AMAZON

Royalties without spreadsheets

CLIENT
A small publisher of music-teaching books for children.
PROBLEM
Sales flowed in from two WooCommerce stores, Amazon, and physical print runs, and were reconciled by hand: reports downloaded manually, stitched together in Excel, royalties calculated author by author.
BUILT
An Airtable-based automation that pulls WooCommerce sales every hour, ingests Amazon and print-shop reports, and computes sales and per-author royalties.
OUTCOME
Manual data-entry errors went to zero, and time spent on sales and royalty reporting dropped by roughly 80%.

REC 03 / EYEWEAR / COMPUTER VISION · PILOT

A computer-vision pilot for eyewear market trends

CLIENT
One of the world's largest eyewear companies.
PROBLEM
No systematic visibility into visual market trends: which shapes, colors, and materials were actually gaining ground.
BUILT
A proof-of-concept that collected eyewear imagery from social networks, brand sites, and specialist e-commerce; trained vision models, each specialized in one product feature, and composed them into a workflow that classified products, produced trend reports, and matched trends against the client's own catalog.
OUTCOME
The pilot proved the approach worked. The client chose not to fund a production phase. An honest result, and a cheap one: that's what pilots are for.

04 / ABOUT

Portrait of Beder Acosta Borges

beder.dev is the consulting practice of Beder Acosta Borges. Since 1998 I've designed and built B2B software across finance, energy, manufacturing, publishing, e-commerce, and payments, as an engineer, an architect, and a leader of distributed teams. beder.dev has been how I work with clients since 2015. I work from Milan, with clients anywhere.

05 / COLOPHON

This site is static HTML and one stylesheet. No frameworks, no build step, no scripts, no trackers, no third-party requests. Fonts are self-hosted subsets. It is built the way I build software for clients: nothing it doesn't need.
